Greetings! My name is Rose Witmer. I’m a Pennsylvanian by birth with a love of travel, writing, and photography. “Home” is still a liquid concept with no real roots as I discover new parts of the world and the people that create them.
After over a decade of serving in the United States Air Force, I am now turning my sights and preparing myself for my biggest adventure yet. Not only will I be living life outside of the service for the first time, but I have no intention of taking the easy transition into an equivalent career of a 9-5 desk job. Instead, once I finish college I’ll be striking out to the great unknown in hopes of living a dream. My hope is to live a life traveling the world, learning the language of the people, experiencing the culture, and then sharing my experiences through the light of photography and the ink of my writings.
I’m not a scholar, a genius, or a millionaire. I’m just a 27 year old with dreams and passions that keep me up at night and have me staring at maps imagining the world they represent. When I travel I may spend weeks researching and preparing for a road trip only to crumple up my meticulous plans and throw them in the backseat. I follow the guideline and know the general course, but once those windows go down and the music is turned up, I let the wind carry me where it will and enjoy the journey.
As I look toward the horizon of my future I find myself drawing those maps and planning for each road and destination. The path I choose is not an easy one and may end in complete failure but if I don’t wake up and follow my dreams I will only stumble through life wondering…”what if…?”
This blog is my road map as I chart the waters and let the wind catch my sails. As I prepare for the vast unknown and get a running start for the leap toward my dreams I hope my experiences, successes, and failures can be an inspiration and advice for anyone who also stares at the desk clock wondering if there is more to life. Until then I continue to live life through my writing and behind my lens, sharing stories of my travels and life experiences.
Thank you for joining me on my journey!
